Great white sharks have a top speed of 56km/h (35mph), an average lifespan of 70 years and capable of diving to a depth of 1200m (3900ft)

They have no known natural predators other than, on very rare occasions, the killer whale. They are one of the primary predators of marine mammals and a variety of other marine animals, including fish and seabirds.

They are responsible for more recorded human bite incidents than any other shark species.
