The inexperience of youth is quite often exploited for a quick bite, young ones are more likely to panic and make a mistake than an older prey animal, and to be completely fair: they’re smaller and easier to subdue – which equals less chance of injury for the attacker.

In this case, a solitary juvenile fur seal doesn’t last very long near an opportunistic shark… and she makes no mistake.
