Coastal Wolves

These wolves, unlike their interior relatives, live off the sea.

Up to 90 percent of their diet is seafood – salmon, barnacles, clams, whale carcasses, river otters and seals.

They are smaller than their inland cousins, about the size of a german shepherd.

Just for reference – mainland wolves are roughly 20% larger.

They are excellent swimmers, capable or reaching islands 12 – 15km (7.4 – 9.3 miles) from the closest landmass.

Coastal wolves used to roam up and down the west coast of North America, as far south as California and as far north as Alaska.

Nowadays they don’t venture further south than northern Vancouver.
