Unavoidable Contact
πŸ“½ via @stevenrinella

In the State of California, it is estimated that there are 72,000 resident bobcats, these solitary animals have an average range of 3 sq miles (7.7 kmΒ²) each.

California has a total area of 163,696 sq miles (423,970 kmΒ²), that’s 1 bobcat per 2.27 sq miles (5.8 kmΒ²) roughly.

In comparison, 39.5 million residents in that same area equals 241 humans per sq mile and 93 humans per kmΒ².

Even with the shutdown, human/bobcat contact in California is inevitable.

And that chicken is just collateral damage.
