Wild dogs empty out a waterbuck

Wild dogs are very efficient hunters, killing between 60% – 90% of their intended targets.

They have to work quick, because although they are the most successful hunters on the african continent, they often get their kills stolen by larger predators, such as lions and hyenas.

Time is of the essence, which explains why in some videos where wild dogs are the subject, they don’t wait until the animal is down to start feeding.

The need to eat their fill before the dust settles, as the commotion of the hunt has surely piqued the interest of other nearby carnivores.
