Micro Aggresion

American Kestrel grabbing baby doves out of their nest.

The american kestrel is the smallest and most common falcon in North America.

The vary in size, they can be as small as a blue jay, as large as a mourning dove or somewhere in between.

They feed on insects, lizards, mice, small birds, bats, snakes and squirrels. The broad scope of the kestrels diet is cited as the reason for their high population.

One important use of American kestrels is in falconry and it is often considered a beginner’s bird. This form of falconry is referred to as “micro-falconry,” other birds used include merlin’s, sharp-shinned hawks and european kestrels.
