Leopard strolls in and grabs a baby warthog from an undefended burrow.

But how does this leopard know the burrow is unprotected?

The mom took off with her babies in tow at the first sight of the cat, so how did they end up back inside the dugout?

When the babies saw the cat, they ran straight back inside where it’s “safe” instead of following mom.

The only question I can’t answer here is where the mom went and why she didn’t return to mount a defense.

My guess: panic

The bread and butter of predators around the world.

Prey animals do weird things when they’re scared, and it’s every predators job to capitalize on the chaos their very presence creates.

It’s not always this easy.
