A lion, sans canine.

The upper and lower canines are arguably the most important weapon in the lion’s arsenal.

In addition to being used in a defensive manner against other lions, they serve as a means of dispatch in the act of subduing prey – a powerful bite to the throat is applied to both suffocate large animals and sever the spinal column of smaller ones.

Half of this lion’s canine was already cracked up the middle, that might explain the ease of egress as this tooth was ready to be released into the wild for some time.

And the lion? He’ll be fine as long as he can keep the gaping hole in his face from becoming infected.
