Elk eats gosling.

These animals are primarily grazers. Like cows, they have a four-chambered stomach and grass makes up the vast majority of their diet – and maybe a little tree bark on occasion.

It is speculated that herbivores turn to meat when they are not getting enough nutrients in their diet – biologists in Scotland witnessed deer eating seabird chicks at around the same time they were growing their antlers, presumably this dietary boost helps that process.

Or maybe, this is just something herbivores do when we aren’t looking and our predetermined notion of these “gentle” creatures is nothing but wishful thinking.
