Finnish brown bear, torn up by a rival bear

You might be thinking that looks like a black bear, and while the colour might look very similar to one, Finland doesn’t have black bears.

Even if they did, colour and size can be misleading and are not a reliable identifying features when trying to distinguish between a brown and a black bear.

This bear has a shoulder hump, a distinct brown bear feature. Also, the ears are shorter and more rounded than a black bear, which are taller and more pointed.

There are a few other distinctions (claw length, dished face profile, rump height when compared to the shoulder hump) but those previously mentioned are the main differences.
