This female hippo was bloodied in an encounter with a large hippo bull.

It was the second time in as many days that this bull went ham on this cow, and no one seems to know why.

This lone female had a calf, but the alpha bull had no interest in it whatsoever. This is quite odd because it is common for hippo bulls to murder the calf of the cow they want to mate with, drip-drying the mom doesn’t make any sense

None of the people present to witness this encounter have any idea why this female was gored by the bull, but they do know that the cow (and presumably her calf) were eaten by hyenas shortly after succumbing to her injuries.

For those of you who don’t know already, hippos are the third largest terrestrial animals on the planet, and the very last animal you’re gonna want to piss off. Each year, they kill at least twice as many people as lions do.

They are completely unpredictable, and this occurence is even more proof of that reality.
