King of the Hill

Mongolian ibex sitting pretty up on high.

These animals are expert climbers. Elastic and rubbery foot pads combined with the hard outer edges of their hooves allow ibex to scale surfaces that are nearly perpendicular with ease.

They maintain their advantage by sticking to mountainous areas and forcing terrestrial predators who are not so adept at climbing to chase them on their home turf.

Ibex are also capable of jumping (vertically) up to 6ft from a stand-still, which can be employed as a last resort if and when something hungry gets close enough to strike.
