Cut Your Teeth

Lioness jabberjawing with a recently deceased topi.

Lions will sometimes use the teeth of their prey to cleanse their own chompers, grinding up against them to do so. I’m also told that there is a spot in and behind the nose of some herbivores that contains a very soft morsel of flesh that the lions literally chew through the snout of the animal to get at.

When you spend a lot of time observing these incredible predators, these are the nuggets of info you can pass along to the world.

Thank you @chekaphotosafaris for the information and the incredible photo!
