A lone sea wolf searches for food in the rain.

There are two distinct populations of these wovles: coastal island wolves that eat 90% seafood and almost never touch the mainland, and mainland coastal wolves who eat less seafood than their island cousins because they have access to mainland food sources.

Both are related to the grey wolf, but they are smaller in stature than their inland cousins. The island wolves in particular are great swimmers, sometimes swimming several miles between islands in search of something to eat.

This wolf was photographed in Vancouver, but there are populations of sea fairing wolves in southeastern Alaska and other places along the western coast of North America.
