A tiger spots a chital deer for lunch.

The predator prey relationship is a tale older than time itself, as there are literally endless examples of one species of organism exploiting another for food.

As prey evolved, they developed new ways of evading capture, which prompted the predators to adapt or die off – and a lot of them did just that.

The organisms on either side of the divide unknowingly participate in this evolutionary arms race by surviving long enough to pass on their genes, the biological traits that kept them in the game this long will might offer future generations a fighting chance.

Maybe one day, the eyes of these deer with be sharp enough to see the fine detail of the impending death staring back at them. Until that happens, they will continue to be an ambush predator’s nocturnal emission.
